Family Update....

Here's a quick or not so quick update on the fam......

Graduated from kindergarten

Had the cutest friends and a great teacher

I still can't believe she is reading

She loved school and misses it and her friends

Loves to play on the computer

She is mom's best helper

Oh...and she rode the goat...cuz that's how we roll...haha

where to begin...

most recent conversation

Payton: Mom if I tell you what I did will I get hot sauce?

Mom (very frightened): No...what did you do?

Payton: So I won't get hot sauce?

Mom: Tell me what you did....NOW!

Payton: When I pee, I pee on the wall

Mom: Come on lets go clean it up...

five minutes pass while mom and son scrub walls and floors of bathroom

mom begins lecture

Mom: Payton you cannot pee on the wall or you will have to pee sitting down. All pee must go inside the toilet. If you miss you must clean it up. Do you understand?

Payton (staring at mom intently): Mom what color are your eyes? I think they are a pretty color.

Mom(gives up): Payton go to bed.

Payton: Mom do I get hot sauce?

Mom: No Payton. Go to bed. I love you.

And who else in the world gets love notes from their son on a tulip leaf????

That is soooo Payton.....

Haylee's current favorite sayings:

I'm hungry

I'm hungry

Mom I'm hungry

Dat's boring (when I tell her to go to sleep)

Your greasy (if anyone passes gas)

Oopsey dupsey

She loves her little Zaners

Must get cereal ASAP in the morning or all H*$$ breaks loose

And you better put it in the right color of bowl

Loves to go to work with her Daddy

And still loves treats!

Growing like a weed (make him stop)

Fussy after eating

Spits up a lot

Beginning to smile and make eye contact

Sleeps well (thank goodness)

Still adjusting to four kids

Searching for a mini-van

Dreading going back to work next week

Thinking about starting to exercise

Really hates the words "I'm hungry"

Loving our simple life

Starting to go crazy with recent rainfalls
Getting sick of the rain

Wants the sun to shine
Needs the fields to dry up

Spending lots of extra time with the family ;)

1 month old!!!

While I was trying to get a picture of Zane, Josie thought this would be a great idea. It actually turned out pretty funny.
I can't believe how time is flying by.

He has started to grin and smile just a bit the past day or two. And he's getting to be quite the chunker.

She Rocks!!!

Thats sis-in-law Mindy ROCKS. She is an amazing photographer and so talented. You can see more of her work at Go ahead and check it out! Seriously I even ended up liking my spur of the moment 9 month preggo pics....I don't even know how that is possible! I really liked the texture on this one...wait is that the right work Mindy?? Texture?? Whatever it is that gives that 70ish look - it's cool!

Although I realize I am huge here...I still don't understand how a baby fits in there. It scares me...seriously. Its a freaky, strange, beautiful miracle - just ask Josie.

Picture overload I know....But I just can't decide my favorite. I love them all!

Big Brother

The best way to get a puppy is to beg for a baby brother - and they'll settle for a puppy every time. ~Winston Pendelton

....well about six puppies later we decided to go with the baby brother. And Payton is loving being the big brother. We can't wait for Zane to grow up and be just like him. No more being girl trapped Payton!!!(That is what Payton says whenever he is the only boy around.)

Blessings, Broken Legs and Babies

Wow! It has been a busy past few months. Life has been hectic with preparing for the baby, the kids with spring fever (and Landon), working, watching the Jazz and so much more. In March Payton scared the heck out of us. I was working and Landon stopped in at his moms to check on the kids. He decided to leave them there and go home to feed the animals. All of the kids were inside with Patti and Landon left to go home. He began backing up but had to stop at the end of the driveway to wait for some cars to pass. He waited there momentarily and then continued to back out of the driveway and head home. In those few moments while waiting for the cars to pass Payton had decided he wanted to go with his dad. So Payton snuck out of the house and ran out the the truck without Landon ever seeing him. The truck began moving and Payton grabbed onto the ranch bumper of Landon's truck. He was low enough that Landon could not possibly see him. Landon continued to go home driving approximately 55 mph. A neighbor of Patti's was outside and could hear someone screaming. He was able to catch a glimpse of Payton hanging there and immediately jumped in his car in hopes of catching Landon before something tragic occurred. He said he could see Payton's little feet bouncing off of the road, but was never able to get close enough to Landon to stop him. Landon continued driving about two miles to Halls gas station and went to turn. A woman was at the stop sign and started waving her hands to get Landon's attention. Landon was so confused but pulled over and jumped out of his truck. He was shocked to see Payton hanging there crying. There is no explanation of how Payton was able to hang on. The bottom of his socks and pants were shredded...he was not wearing any shoes. But there was not a scratch or mark on his feet. A tender mercy without a doubt. There were so many how's and why's that still cannot be answered. The next night we were reading scriptures as a family in Second Nephi. I don't remember the chapter but I remember reading Nephi's testimony and conviction that we are in the mercy of our Heavenly Father and we must not trust in the arm of the flesh, but in our Heavenly Father. Never have I felt so strongly about this principle. We are so thankful that we still have Payton in our lives. I believe that he has a purpose and Heavenly Father has a plan for him. A family friend Ron Mumford also compared Payton's experience to holding to the Iron Rod. It is not an easy task, but we must hold on...through all afflictions and adversity. When Payton showed me how he was hanging on my stomach is still unbelievable to me. As for Payton he was shook up for about an hour and then on to being a little boy...climbing ladders and asking Landon of next time he could ride on the back of the truck. Ahhhhh!!!! Boys will be boys!

About a week before my due date I got home from work and we were all spending time outside because it was FINALLY a nice spring day. The kids were loving it. Josie climbed up on the trampoline, jumped about three times and then I saw her land very me it almost looked like she hyper extended her knee. She immediately went down and started moaning. I tried to get her to walk it off, but she refused to put any weight on it. Patti took her inside to lay her down. A few minutes later I came in and she was pale and sleepy....exactly how she was when she broke her arm. We took off her tights and and could see her leg beginning to swell below the knee. A few minutes later we were on our way to Instacare. After waiting a few hours, x-rays were taken and it was determined her leg was broken. I was soooo in denial!! I looked at the doctor and asked how she would get around and he looked at me and said 'You will carry her'. Um...I'm having a baby next week. He also said she would probably not be able to go to school for a few weeks. We were so bummed! She did not enjoy her first week on the couch. The next week we got her a walker and she has been much happier. So much for her being my little helper with the baby...ha. So now she's our little grandma with the walker. She has even decorated it with ribbons and buttons...the girl has still got to have some style. Today was her first day back at school and she is doing great.
The last few months of pregnancy were not great for me. I guess I'm getting older or something, but I was so uncomfortable this time. To top it all off I had this terrible itching on my hands and feet. So bad I couldn't sleep. About the only thing that gave me relief was to put my hands in ice cold water. My doctor thought it may be my liver not functioning correctly and releasing bile salts into my blood stream. The bad thing was there wasn't anything I could do for it other than have the baby. When 39 weeks came around we decided to have an induction. We were instructed to call Tuesday morning at 4 a.m. I called and they were too busy and they didn't slow down the entire day so we had no luck Tuesday. Wednesday we started calling at 6 a.m. and they were still busy. We finally got called in at 2:30 p.m. Overall everything went well and our baby boy was born at 10:50 p.m. The kids were so excited for their little brother they came to see him that night. It was fun to see their excitement and joy. They all love him so much. Payton has been especially excited to have a little brother.
